Far Cry:

AMD Athlon 64 FX-60 Far Cry
It's quite evident from the CPU limited results that Far Cry doesn't feature dual core support either. However, we weren't expecting to see performance benefits from a second processor in this title, as we've included this game to display how the dual core CPUs perform in older games too. Not everyone plays the latest games religiously and many gamers find themselves going back to an old favourite.

The Athlon 64 FX-60 slots in behind the two single core FX processors - there's a slight performance drop by virtue of having a second core on the CPU package, but it's less than 5% with these older drivers. The difference between the single core and dual core processors at the same frequency will be slightly different with the newer drivers that offer performance improvements for dual core processors and it may end up with the X2's outperforming their single core siblings.

The increase in resolution means that the Pentium 4 Extreme Edition 3.73GHz and Athlon 64 X2 4800+ change places, as well as the Pentium Extreme Edition 955 and Athlon 64 X2 4400+ changing places too. The Athlon 64's seem to handle higher resolution gaming that little bit better than Intel's processors - that's been a trend for a while now, and there's no chance of that changing until the launch of Conroe.
